TATE BRITAIN: FIONA BANNER

Banner has placed fighter planes in the space, one a Harrier suspended with a tattooed textured surface, and a Jaguar upside down, with a polished surface (mirror like). The jaguar linked to our recent V.C.T lecture, where we touched upon the point; How a person can connect to the art that they are viewing especially in the absence or presents of words. Banner presented a short film on entrance to the exhibition where she explained the inpiration of the peices formed from some of her written transcription 'Wordscapes'. As the Jaguar was polished and showed the viewers reflection it was as though it was communicating with the viewer and exposing the audiences reactions, and provocted words for the peice without there being any words actually on the peice.
